Strasan’s members have an international research reputation in forensic computer science, information security, critical infrastructure protection and cyber crime and terrorism.
Strasan’s chairman Dr Craig Wright has been appointed as the Asia Pacific Director of Global Institute for Cyber security Research (GICSR), an international non-profit organisation seeking to advance a comprehensive range of cyber security initiatives, cyber innovations and research.
GICSR International Executive Director Mr Richard Zaluski said, "We are pleased to announce that Craig has joined the GICSR Board of Directors. Craig is one of the world’s most highly qualified digital forensic practitioners and has not only worked to develop many of the techniques in common practice, but is also working to expand the field of knowledge. Craig designed the architecture for the world’s first online casino, Lasseter’s Online, in the Northern Territory. In the past, he has also designed and managed the implementation of many of the systems that protect the Australian Stock Exchange". Securing the connected world

In the current environment, business leaders are facing multiple challenges, including the need to innovate in extremely competitive conditions, address dynamic regulatory and compliance challenges, speed returns on investments to counter shrinking IT budgets, and secure the enterprise against a barrage of new and evolving sophisticated threats. However, unlike other business challenges, organisations often take a technology-driven approach to securing their infrastructure, when a risk-based, business-driven approach is more effective. With a variety of collaborators, we carry out cross-disciplinary research that draws on social science, law, criminology, police and justice studies, as well as information security software and communications engineering to achieve its aims. We have trusted relationships with government and industry within an Australian national security research agenda
